Time Change...What?

Yup. It's that time of year again. Time to set back the clocks that you remember are in your house and then freak out on Monday when you run across one you forgot to reset. Time for an extra hour of sleep and less light in the evening. I love the Fall.

"Just pay me back with 1000 kisses"

Yeah...I'm listening to rent. I just love the music and it is way fun to sing to. But I regress.

Last nght had to have been one of the most fun evenings I've had in about 3 years. Shelly came over with her new S/O Sean and we went bowling. Much fun was had, especially as Shelly slid down the lane and did this funny little dance while trying to gain her footing and then flew up in the air and landed on her rear. It's the funniest thing I've seen in months. After a lot of laughing and clapping Shelly got up and complained that her butt hurt. Hummm...I wonder why. Then it was off to Club Basix to see some of the drag show and see Jason in his vinyl pants. He looked very good in the skin tight shirt and pants. He even had a dog collar on. Oh my. It was a lot of fun...The Smirnoff Twisted Black Cherry's are very scrumptious and I only spilled once.

Now for those of you that know me I go out like that maybe once a year. Man though did I have a great time. Just what I needed even though I'm a little on the slow side this morning.

"It's just a jump to the left"

"And then a step to the riiiiiiiiight. Put your hands on your hips. Then bring your knees in tiiiight." Normally I would be attending a rocky horror picture show party this weekend. However, since Jayme has found herself living with her parents we don't have a place to hold it. Yes, it is very sad I know. I just have this to say to Jayme. "Grow up and move out of your parents house already...You're 31 for crying out load!" So no rocky this year...no frankenfurter...no Magenta....No Time Warp dancing. It's ok though cause I've made other plans...but I'll still be dreaming of a time when...."But it's the pelvic thrust....that really drives you insaaaaaaane. Let's do the Time Warp agaaaaaaain."

Anyone wanna make a pig?

You can see the pig I drew here. Fun huh? Isn't he cute?

This one's for you Cup!

In Alan's world you are a fish...
In Alan you are a world...
In the state mental institution you are Alan...

A beginning

I met Jason last night for coffee, or tea, at Barnes and Noble last night. Being me of course I was rather nervous but he was a lot of fun and I had a good time. After awhile I asked if he wanted to come back to my house to carve pumpkins. So off we were to carve a pumpkin although we didn't end up carving the pumpkin. We played Backgammon and talked instead. A low key evening...which was nice since I only had about 4 hours of sleep from the night before. I had a great time chatting with him, yes he is funny, and I hope I get to know him better. We'll see where it goes.

Dad! My tummy hurts

Yeah...That's right. All day yesterday Broc kept telling me that his tummy hurt by throwing up all day long. I felt really bad for the poor little guy. Everytime he would start to heave I would make a mad dash to get him off the furniture, bed, carpet, etc and onto the hardwood floors. Let me tell you...it is way easier to clean it up off the hardwood than the bed spread. Luckily today he is feeling like the frisky little puppy that he really is. I'm glad he feels better too because you can't really do anything but just hope that they start to feel better.

On to other news. Shawn called this afternoon to let me know that he has someone that he wants to set me up with. Oddly that makes me feel a little giddy. I'm not exactly sure why... I know that Shawn has gone to the movies with him a couple of times or something but I have never met him. I'll have to get Shawn to tell me more about his personality so I can see if he'll be a good fit. Since Shawn and I are so different it is not uncommon to have Shawn pick someone like him because he is so outgoing and I'm more reserved. It all comes down to personality I guess. We shall see what happens.

Beginnings and Ends

The weekend has come to an end and another week is about to begin. Isn't it interesting how when something comes to an end there is always another beginning to take its place? The end of a weekend, the beginning of a work week. The end of fall, the beginning of winter. The end of a job, the beginning of a new career. The ending of a relationship, the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.

It is also interesting how we try so desperately to hold on to the end at the cost of experiencing and enjoying the beginning. We spend so much time wishing we had just a little more time in the weekend, or just a little more of the beautiful fall leaves, or just a little more time with the one we loved.

I think we do this because of the pain of the beginning, the newness that we fear so much. Yet the dichotomy is that the pain is not only associated with the beginning. Truly isn’t there also pain in the end? The loss of a relationship is unbearably painful yet often times we find ourselves stuck in the loss and unable to move on and truly experience the new beginning. The pain of the beginning can’t possibly out weight the pain of the end. So why can’t some let go and experience a new beginning? Why can others so easily?

Does it have to do with our world view? Maybe it is because of the way we were nurtured as children. Maybe it is because for some of us our spirit is so attuned to the feelings of others that we forget to ensure our own happiness which in turn causes us to become so anesthetized to the pain that we become numb to the needs of others.

The question then becomes how do we awaken from this state of deadness? How do you let go of the pain of an end in order to experience the thrill of the beginning. How do you look past the pain in the beginning to see the excitement and adventure that is just barely getting under way. How do you experience this new excitement and adventure without letting the pain of the end take away from the thrill of the beginning?

Get your Mudra On

Yesterday was my Tri-Yoga seminar with KaliJi (Kali Ray). It was very nice and relaxing and really allowed me to meditate. It also allowed me to compare teaching styles and yoga styles. It is interesting because I like Tri-Yoga due to it really allowing me to breath and meditate however I notice that my alignments are maybe not as good as they should be. However with Vini Yoga I notice that I get a better body work out becuase I'm focused on being sure that I'm in the right pose and that my body is in alignment but I don't have the opportunity to meditate a lot becuase I'm so focused on doing the pose correctly. I wish there were a combined style. Either one though I really enjoy and find it good for my body. Plus it was super nice for Sayde to come with me.

Short on Scratch Due to the Money Eating Monster

I was hoping to take the pup's lure coursing this weekend but it doesn't look like it is going to happen. Since I just had to write a check for $1532 to get the brickwork on my house fixed up I'm a little short on scratch. I was hoping that Shawn was going to go and help pay half the expenses but he can't now so that helped make the decision a little easier. It really sucks when you want to do something but know that you need to make the responsible decision and not spend the money even though you really really want to. Oh well, there are always more shows next month.

On the bright side my chimeny and stones on the house look great and I don't have to worry about it falling over from all the missing mortar between the joints. I think houses are money eating monsters...but they sure are nice to live in.

Great River Road

The ride down the great river road was very beautiful. The trees were wonderful shades of red's and orange's against beautiful cliffs. It was breath taking...or maybe it was breath taking because of the hypothermia due to the windchill. Either way I couldn't breeth. I would definitely do it again though as long as I have a windshield on my bike and many more layers of clothing. Burrrr....

Fish, Aquatic Plants and Broc

A couple of days ago I was getting ready for work and turned on the fish tank light so I could feed them and noticed that one of the fish was not feeling well. So decided that I would quickly try to change out half of the water to reduce the nitrates. I pulled everything out of the tank and sucked out all the nasty stuff in the pebbles at the bottom and about half the water. Then I put everything back in and topped it off with fresh water. Well, lets just say the fish didn't make it and had a visit with the garbage disposal. Of course I had a little fishy funeral and felt bad for the little swimmer. Then Broc decided to consume the one plant that I didn't put back in the tank. He chewed it all up and left it all over everywhere. Why is it that puppies choose to chew on everything but their toys or raw hides? I think if someone can answer that question they would make a LOT of money.

Where in the world is Tim?

Here I am. The trees are kind of hiding my house but if you look closely you can see it.

Cold Weather Equals Sore Muscles

We're back from Lure Coursing and had a lot of fun. We got to see Cindy S. and Cindy G. and Marsha K. and a whole bunch of other fun people. Baci had a lot of fun coursing and while he didn't get the 1st place that I was hoping for he did get a 2nd place and a 3rd place. So definitely nothing to complain about. I'm tired and sore from the cold but I managed to do an hour of yoga to try to stretch my muscles back out so that hopefully I won't be as sore tomorrow. The bed is calling my name now. Night!

Gay guys, Periods and Panty Liners Oh My...

It's official. Beebe is in season. So that means for the next 3 weeks I'll be putting on her panties and buying panty liners. See and you would have thought that being gay would mean you could get away from all that. Ugh.

"Bunny? Where's the Bunny?

Baci, Beebe, Broc and I are off to lure course in Indianola, IA this weekend. Baci just needs a first place placement to be an ASFA Field Champion so I'm crossing my fingers that he can finally pull it off this year. We have so many 2nd place placements that they are coming out our ears. Honestly though I take them lure coursing because it is a blast and they love it. Whippets were bred to chase bunnies and they honestly don't really care if it is a plastic bag or a real bunny. It is something fun to chase and that is all they know.

Little Man Broc will have his first lure coursing experience this weekend. It will be interesting to see if he likes it or not. I think at first he'll be excited because all the other dogs will be...but eventually he'll catch on to why they're excited and then he'll be keen on the lure.

Wish us all luck!

Happy Birthday to Beebe

Happy Birthday to Beebe…
Happy Birthday to Beebe…
Happy Birthday Dear Beebe…
Happy Birthday to Beebe…

Yup.  Beebe is officially 5 years old today and still going strong.  For being 5 and having had a litter of 5 pups this spring she looks darn good.

I stopped by the new Petsmart in town and picked up some puppy treats for the “kids”.  They all enjoyed them even though they had no idea why they were getting them.  I figure they’re like kids to me so I might as well throw a bit of a party for her.

MSF Class Photo

So here is the photo of the people that were in my Motorcycle Safety Foundation class. There was one really cute guy in the class...but I'll let you decide which one he was.

Teeth, teeth and more teeth

Ok...How many teeth exactly do puppies lose. Poor Broc just keeps losing them left and right it seems. Two days ago he lost his 2nd to last K9 so I thought that there was just the last K9 to go and he would be done. Then today Broc was practicing his favorite pass time, which is to chew on my fingers, and I noticed blood. So I am like humm...is he losing the last K9 already? I didn't think it would be this soon because it wasn't even loose a couple of days ago. So I opened up his mouth and low and behold he is losing another molar. I though he had already lost them all but boy was I wrong. That would explain why he has been wanting to chew all the buttons off my duvet cover over the last couple of days.

Passed Successfully

It is finally official. We are done with the Motorcycle Safety Foundations Basic Rider course and I passed with flying colors. I got a zero on my riding test...I know sounds odd but think of it like golf...the lower the score the better. I then got 100% on my written test. So now I just need to go and take the certificate to the DMV and get my motorcycle endorsement. YEAH!! I'm so excited. It was honestly not very easy to pass though. Most of the exercises were easy but have to do two U-turns in a 20 foot box is not an easy task on a motorcycle. That was by far the hardest part of the test. Other than that we were tested on swerving out of the way of an obstacle, which was easy, make an emergency brake in case someone were to pull in front of you, and turning around a 120 degree curve at a fairly fast pace. It was a very good class to take.

The down side of the class was that instead of the normal instructors we had a group of 12 people that were training to become instructors. So they were teach us instead of the normal instructors. Having been an trainer I know it is difficult to teach something for the first time and hard not to get upset and take it out on the training class. Luckily almost all of the rider coach trainees were great. There was one that I didn't care for, which I'm sure he realized because I don't hide my motions well. I figure though you aren't going to get along with everyone so why pretend.

If you are thinking of riding a motorcycle I would highly recommend the class. You can look up classes at www.msf-usa.org. They also have some other really fun stuff about how to ride a motorcycle up there.

Now I'm contemplating if I want to go to yoga class or not. I'm pretty sore from riding a motorcycle for 8 hours a day for the last couple of days...but on the other hand I could really use the relaxation of it. Maybe I'll do it at home...choices, choices, choices.
