Day 3...Juice YEAH

So it is day 3 and I have not had any solid foods for 81 hours. Crazy huh? Today I had some yummy juice and quite enjoyed it. I'm also going through my first healing crisis, or at least that is what they call it. In essence my body is starting to detoxify and is letting all the nastiness out of my liver and what not and it's floating around in my blood stream. So I have a sore thoat and sore muscles. I just keep telling myself that I'll feel better when it is all done.

Master Cleanse Day 2

So it has been 45 hours since I have had any food. I've been living off salt water in the morning and syrup/lemon water the rest of the time. I'm still not hungry, which is suprising to me, but I am definitely tired. The feeling of exhaustion hit me last night at about 8:00pm. Of course that could also have something to do with watching the Iowa City theatre group perform Waiting For Gaudo. Let me just say I will not ever be waiting for gaudo again. Yawn.

Sayde went to the New Pioneer Co-op for me yesterday and picked me up all kinds of goodies. She got me, apples, oranges, lemon, all kinds of different veggies, garlic and wheat grass. Very cool and I can't wait to start drinking it tomorrow. Yummy. I need to go and get some cantelope, watermelon, more lemons, beeets and probably more carrots today as well.

I'll keep you all posted on how things are going. Have a good Sunday.

Master Cleanse...Icky

As some of you know, and others are about to find out, I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis last week and have been trying to find healthful ways to improve my digestive system and give it a chance to heal. I've been doing Yoga now for a year which was a good start, but clearly my digestive track needs more. So I started to research Juice Fasting which isn't really a fast since you can drink juice but has many of the same benefits. The idea is that it gives your intestines a chance to not have to digest food and instead work on healing themselves. So I talked to Sayde about doing a Juice Fast and she thought it was a great idea. She also has a friend that does this kind of stuff, a massage therapist, and she suggested that I do a master cleanse. The idea of a master cleanse is that you drink 1 quart of sea salt water in the morning, and then throughout the day you drink a water mixture with, organic maple sugar, lemon juice and ceyenne pepper in it. Neededless to say the idea is to clean you out and the water mixture gives you a little nurishment.

So today I started the "master cleanse". I mixed up my salt water and drank it. YUCK. Felt like I was drinking the ocean. Then I was suppose to have two tablespoons of olive oil. Even Yuckier. I won't be doing that again because I think I am going to puke instead. Yucky. So I'll keep you all posted on how it goes. Needless to say though I think I'll be pooping a lot over the next couple of days. lol.

Four Brothers sucks

Mark Whalberg use to be so cute and was in some good movies. Now he is making movies like Four Brothers. What has happened to the once glorious underwear model? If you haven't seen the movie, don't waste your time. If you have I'm sorry and you can never get those two hours back. Oh how I wish for the days of Marky Mark singing and doing underwear ads. Those were the days.

Vivi

Many of you know that I own Whippets and love them dearly. They are spectacular dogs that love people, sleep under the covers in bed and have the occasional nice run. Some of you may have seen the CNN story on the Whippet that escaped from her kennel at the JFK airport last Wednesday. What some of you may not know is that Vivi is Bliss' sister and she is actually the Whippet that I almost came home with instead of Bliss. Bo Bengtson is the breeder of the whippets I own and Jill Walton, the owner of Vivi, I have met on several occasions. It is a very sad time because Whippets do not fair well in the cold weather. They have very little body fat and very short fur which gives them very little protection from the cold. She did have a coat on however frost bite would set in on the ears and legs very quickly. Please be thinking of Vivi and of her safe return.

Netflix

I've finally made the plung and signed up for Netflix. I didn't do it for the longest time because I didn't feel like I rented enough movies to make it worthwhile and because my home theater system was...well lets just face it. I didn't have one. So I decided to get a home theater system with my tax return money and then the next logical step was the signup for Netflix so I could get the full theatrical perspective out of my new sound system.

I got the Yamaha YHT 360 Home Theater in a box system because it had a compoent receiver and fairly good speakers. After a couple hours of setting it all up with the new optical cables and speaker wire I popped Star Wars Episode III into my DVD player and all I can say is WOW. It sounds fantastic. I'm still trying to figure out the best sound options for all the different things I watch but reading the owners manual twice has helped.

At any rate that takes us to Netflix. So for $14.99 a month I get two DVD's at a time and am really looking forward to getting my first DVD's in the mail. Hopefully tomorrow. I thought you all might be interested in seeing the movies that I've requested so I put the RSS feed over on the right side of my blog. You can even hover over the movie name to get a description. How fun huh?
