Broc Wins Again

Just a quick note to let you all know that Broc won again in Dubuque. He took 1st in his class, then took Winners Dog for a Point, then Best Of Winners and Best Of Opposite.

Yeah that is a total of 2 points in two days now. Now only 13 more to go. Woohoo.

Broc Wins in Dubuque

Today Broc and I drove to Dubuque IA for a show. Honestly, I wasn't looking very forward to the show because I felt that Broc was still very thin and wouldn't be very competitive. However I decided to enter him and show him in the show because I needed to get a little practice in before the national at the end of April.

So we got to Dubuque and the show site and got our arm band and put it on. I got to talk to some Whippet friends and Broc got to make some new Whippet friends. Then it was time to go into the ring. Broc showed pretty well, especially since I haven't been practicing with him very much. He stacked up nicely, and the judge seemed to like him a lot, or at least that was my impression. Broc even gave him some kisses which the judge seemed to really enjoy. Oh in case you are wondering the judge was Charles Trotter. Anway so we go around the ring with the other puppy whippet and low and behold we took 1st in our class. I was completely shocked because I didn't think that Broc was really ready to be competitive. So I thanked the judge and out of the ring we went to wait for winners dog. Once winners dog came around back in the ring we went. We went around the ring and Broc did a great job of moving, at least from what I could see from above him. Then the judge pointed to us and gave us winners dog. Once again I was amazed and shocked. So then we went back in for Best of Breed and got Best Of Winners.

Pretty nice considering I figured the day would be a big bust. Of course tomorrow probably won't have the same result. But it was nice to have it happen. At least I can officially say that Broc has AKC Champion points now.

Duncan and Willow

I thought I would fill you all in on what is going on with Beebe's puppies from last year.

Broc of course is still with me and is finally off his antibiotics. He's gained two pounds in the last month and hopefully will gain two more before the national.

Julie contacted me earlier in the week to let me know that she had shown Willow this past weekend at a UKC show and they did very well. They won Breed both days and were Reserve Best In Show on Saturday. Way to go Willow and Julie. Julie is suppose to be send some pictures of Willow so I can post them. I can't wait to get them.

Nicky's owner decided that an whole male was to much work for her and had him neutered so we won't be hearing much news about him in the future.

Carol sent Shawn some pictures of Duncan which he dropped off last night. He's a good looking boy. Here's some pictures of him so you can get an idea of what he looks like. It looks to me like he still needs to gain some more muscle and weight, just like Broc, but you have to like the outline.

Picture Of My Dad

I thought I would post a picture of my dad. I haven't even talked to him on the phone yet...you know me..I'm pretty shy. But I'm really excited to slowly get to know him. I think he looks a lot like my brother J doesn't he?

MyClubInfo.Org

I've been working on it for a couple of weeks now and www.myclubinfo.org is finally up and going. Let me give some background...

I am the club secretary for the Cedar Rapids Kennel Association and being the Tim that I am, I'm always trying to find ways to simplify and reduce the time I spend performing club functions. So I decided to write a website to help my club keep track of its member database, calendar of events, etc, etc. So for the last couple of weeks I've been working on the website so that my club members could update their own information and look up people's email address instead of emailing me to look it all up for them. After getting the website done, or should I say mostly done because I'm still tweaking it and adding new features, I decided why not market this to other clubs so they to can more easily keep track of their members. From that MyClubInfo.Org was created.

I'm still need to add some graphics to the site because it looks kind of boring right now, but hey, it's a start right?

It's my first web business, and while I'm not trying to make heaps of money on it, hopefully it can bring in enough to cover the expense of having the site up. Plus I'm not trying to make a lot of money. Just trying to help out others like myself that want to spend their time with their dogs instead of answering emails.

Pro Life? Huh?

As I was leaving the gym this evening a walked past a car that had a pro-life sticker on it along with a jesus fish. It got me to thinking, how can so many "pro-life" people believe that abortion should be rescended, but at the same time believe in the death penalty for criminals? Isn't that a contradiction? Personally I believe in a women's right to have an abortion, although if I were a woman I don't think I would personally have one. I don't know that it matters what side of the fence you are on in regards to abortion though. How can you claim to be pro-life and then think we should put people to death. I don't get it. I know they'll say that the baby is innocent and doesn't have a choice and that the criminal committed a terrible act and that is his punishment. To that though I have to ask...Who are you to decide that if you are for life? Doesn't that really mean you are quasi-pro-life? Maybe instead of calling it pro-life we should call it, pro-life for those I like, and death to those I don't. Kind of fits the description of what these people believe more closely I think.

Anyway I was just thinking about this so I thought I would put it out there.

Old Family Ties

On Thursday night as I was getting ready for bed my phone started ringing. It was very odd because most people know not to call after 9 because I'm going to bed. So I looked at the caller ID and it was a 505 area code phone number, which is New Mexico. At first I was thinking it was my step dad calling for my sister. So I picked up the phone and said "Hello". The person said, "Hi, this is your uncle Delbert." I was a little shocked. It was my biological father's, brother. I was shocked because I have never met him. My mom and dad got a divorce before I was born and while I think I saw Delbert and my dad when I was 1, I obviously was not old enough to remember. I did know of him though so it was really cool talking to him. I then gave him J's phone number, thank god J finally got a cell phone, so that he could call J. J does remember Delbert and our dad since he is 2 years older.

Then on Friday I got voice mail messages from my Uncle Eddie, or is it Eddy, and my grandma. I do remember Eddie, because we use to go see him at the mall. I don't remember a lot about him other than he was nice. I don't remember my grandma at all.

I haven't gotten a chance to call them back yet, you know how hectic my schedule can be, but I hope to be able to call in the next couple of days. It will be interesting to talk to them and learn about that side of my family. I'm not much of a phone conversationalist though, so it is kind of wierd to talk to everyone on the phone. J is much better at that...way more outgoing than I am.

Fasting and Endings

Sorry I didn't keep up my posts about the fast. I made it until Wednesday at noon, for a total of 5 days without solid food. I finally decided it was time to start eating again because I was so strung out from not having sugar that I started cussing at my boss. Not specifically at him, just about a situation. Luckily he is the kind of boss that doesn't hold things like that against you. Thank god. At any rate I thought 5 days for a first fast was pretty good. I remember growing up in the mormon church we use to have fast sundays. It was the first Sunday of each month and we would not be able to eat breakfast or lunch. I remember that being so incredibly difficult. Oddly I didn't find this as difficult. Wierd huh?

I talked to Billy tonight because I've been having this feeling that something was up that he wasn't telling me about. Having somewhat of a psychic ability has pluses and minuses. Anyway, I was right and he has decided that because of the horse show season, not having a job, and us living so far apart that he doesn't have the time to date and we should no longer be a couple. Or at least that is what I was able to gleem from the conversation. You're brain starts to shut off when conversations like that start to happen so I can't honestly say I remember all of it. I think he said that he still wants to talk and be friends though. Although I'm not sure if that was just the whole, I really don't have time to talk to you anymore but I don't want to hurt you to bad, or if he truly does want to talk to me. I guess only the future will answer that question. The unfortunately thing about all this is that I really liked him and had fallen in love with him. Odd that I let myself, because going into it there were so many things about the situation that I told myself I would never let myself get involved in. Dating a younger guy, dating someone that isn't completely out, having a long distance relationship. Somehow I decided to give it a try and now I remember why I had that list of things to watch out for. On the other hand I didn't want to give up hope because deep down I think I'm a romantic at heart and wanted it to work. Who knows in a different time it may have. For now it just hurts.
